Recycling & Resource Recovery

Whether a recovery project stands up commercially, and whether the material it produces will be accepted.

Sector context

Resource recovery decisions turn on the relationship between what a facility can secure, what it can process and what a buyer will actually take. Each of those three can move independently, and a change in any one of them alters the economics of the others.

The sector also carries an evidentiary burden that other processing industries do not. Recycled content is increasingly a claim that customers, auditors and regulators expect to be traceable back through supplier documentation and production records.

Decisions we help clarify

Does the feedstock support the plant?

Available volumes, material composition, contamination levels, supply reliability and delivered cost all need to be assessed together rather than assumed from a single sample or a supplier's indication.

Will the output meet buyer specification?

Target applications, buyer specifications and competing materials determine whether processed output is saleable at the quality the process can realistically achieve.

Do the project economics hold under change?

Capital and operating costs, working capital and cash flow tested against movement in prices, utilisation and yield — rather than a single central case.

Can recycled content be substantiated?

Whether supplier documentation, batch records and production data are sufficient to support the claims being made to customers or in reporting.
