Manufacturing
Assessing the commercial opportunity and capacity case for what you make — alongside material efficiency, recycled inputs and the evidence trail that supports what you sell.
Request support for ManufacturingDeveloping in Manufacturing
For a manufacturer, the commercial question and the capacity question are the same question asked twice. Whether an opportunity is worth taking depends on what the plant can actually produce, at what yield and cost, and against what demand — and a capacity change only makes sense if there is a market case to fill it. Assessing either in isolation tends to produce an answer that looks sound until the two are put together.
We assess the opportunity, the demand behind it and the capacity required to serve it as one case, making the yield, input and operating assumptions explicit rather than assumed. The sections below set out the surrounding support and the operational picture.
Sector context
Manufacturers encounter resource efficiency as an operating question — yield, scrap, rework and energy per unit — and as a commercial one, when customers require declared recycled content or specific material documentation.
Both dimensions depend on the same underlying data, but it is usually held in production and quality systems rather than in a form that can be reported or audited without additional work.
Decisions we help clarify
Where is material lost?
Identifying yield loss, scrap and rework across processes, and distinguishing what can be recovered from what cannot.
Can recycled input be introduced?
Whether recycled material can be substituted without compromising product specification, process stability or customer requirements.
What must be documented?
The material, chemical and documentation requirements attaching to products in their destination markets.
How do we report performance?
Connecting production data to sustainability reporting without overstating what the data supports.
Is the opportunity worth taking, and at what capacity?
Whether there is a demand case to justify a production or expansion decision, and the capacity that case actually requires.
What would have to change to serve it?
The process, input or yield changes implied by the opportunity, and whether the resulting operating economics hold against the assumed demand.
